The British government sees the deal as an important piece of its post-Brexit trade and diplomatic strategy to shift the country's economic center away from Europe and seek out new opportunities in higher-growth Indo-Pacific nations.Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison and Johnson overcame sticking points during talks after the Group of Seven meeting in Britain over the weekend, which Morrison attended as a guest.Though details have yet to emerge, some official estimates say the agreement could add 500 million pounds ($705.7 million) to British economic output over the long term - a small fraction for an economy worth around 2 trillion pounds.Nevertheless, it was hailed as an important stepping stone as Britain develops its own trade policy for the first time in decades following its departure from the European Union. The deal will be scrutinised by British farmers, who fear they could be forced out of business if the deal eliminates tariffs on lamb and beef imports from Australia. The government said British farmers would be protected by a cap on tariff-free imports for 15 years.

A police officer in Ocean City, Maryland, used a taser on a young man on the city’s boardwalk, footage posted online showed, prompting the state’s attorney general to say he was “deeply concerned” about the incident. The footage also led to calls for an investigation into how officers enforce the city’s smoke-free boardwalk ordinance.Cori Ewing, who recorded this footage, wrote on Instagram that she and a group of friends were walking along Ocean City’s boardwalk on June 6 when officers on bicycles approached a member of her group who was vaping. According to Ewing, police told her friend he could not vape before grabbing his shirt, prompting the teen to back away. Storyful has not verified these claims. The video shoes police confronting a young man, who puts his hands up. One voice off screen says, “Chill, chill.” Another voice off screen says, “Stop. Stop.” An officer discharges his electroshock device and the young man falls to the ground. Those off screen remonstrate with the officers. At least one officer tells them to back up. The young man who was tasered is restrained and shouts at police.Storyful contacted Ocean City Police Department for comment but had received no response at the time of writing. In a statement related to a separate incident involving teenagers vaping on the Ocean City boardwalk, police said, “Our officers are permitted to use force, per their training, to overcome exhibited resistance.
