John Tortorella absolutely loves renting out his doghouse at no cost, and forward Max Domi is the latest Columbus Blue Jackets forward to find himself residing there.

It's unknown whether it will be an extended stay or just a brief visit for Domi, who is apparently being disciplined for a couple of recent in-game outbursts versus the Chicago Blackhawks and Dallas Stars over the past week.

The Athletic's Aaron Portzline broke the news of Domi's impending benching on Monday morning:

Torts' benchings of star players is a seemingly constant hot topic around hockey circles. From Pierre-Luc Dubois, to Patrik Laine recently — on top of a very benching-friendly history in years prior — the Columbus head coach is not afraid to staple his best players to the pine and certainly doesn't give a damn what any of us think about it.

This particular bench-glueing is a week in the making and seems more than justified, too, as Torts was reportedly furious over Domi doing whatever the hell this was to Blackhawks blueliner Connor Murphy last Monday.

Five days later versus the Dallas Stars on Saturday, Domi put on another show in the dumbest possible way, posting a minus-4 rating, one shot, 14 penalty minutes and a game-ejection in just over 10 minutes of ice time in Columbus's 5-1 loss.

A second bonehead performance from Domi in the same week likely had Torts ready to internally combust. Domi, who has struggled to find his footing with CBJ while posting just seven goals and 19 points in 46 games this season, was acquired last offseason from Montreal in exchange for Josh Anderson

The dude is hard but fair, according to many of his former players, and the consensus seems to be that the majority of his players love playing for him much more than they hate it.

And from a selfish, content-producing perspective, my god — the man is a factory.
