LONDON, Feb 19 (Reuters) - Attorney General Geoffrey Cox still intends to make a speech on what changes which need to be made to Britain's EU exit deal to win the approval of parliament, Solicitor General Robert Buckland said on Tuesday.

Cox had been due to make a speech on Tuesday setting out the changes required to eliminate the legal risk that Britain could be trapped indefinitely in the Northern Irish backstop, an insurance policy to avoide the return of border controls between the British province of Northern Ireland and EU-member Ireland (Other OTC: IRLD - news) .

Asked by a lawmaker whether this had been cancelled, Buckland said: "His plan is to make a speech about the issues". Buckland added that this speech would not be "some detailed exposition of a legal position."
