Joe Ingles' 418-game streak, the NBA's longest, snapped due to Achilles soreness

For the first time in more than five years, Utah Jazz forward Joe Ingles didn’t take the court on Friday night.

Ingles missed the Jazz’s matchup with the Milwaukee Bucks due to right Achilles soreness. The injury has sidelined Ingles for the first time in 418 games, which had marked the longest active streak in the NBA.

The last time Ingles couldn’t take the court was on Dec. 16, 2015.

"I know he'd be playing if he could," Jazz coach Quinn Snyder said before the game, via ESPN. "There's been a lot of times that he's played through pain and probably an injury that he hasn't told us about at times. But, obviously, you miss a player in the short run like Joe, but he'll be back. He's just gotta get healthy and we try to do what we can do to make up for not having him.”

Ingles has averaged 10 points, four rebounds and 3.4 assists so far this season, his seventh in the league. The 33-year-old signed a one-year, $14 million extension with the team last year that will keep him in Utah through 2022.

Though Ingles’ streak was impressive, it wasn’t anywhere near the 1,192-game streak that A.C. Green racked up — which is the longest in NBA history. Sacramento Kings guard Corey Joseph now holds the longest active streak in the league with 274 games.

“But as much as anything, [Ingles’ absence] makes you pause for a second and you reflect on what a streak of consecutive games like that means and what it says about Joe, his toughness, his commitment, what type of teammate he is,” Snyder said, via ESPN. “You pause and reflect for a second and you understand why you respect him like you do.”
