An expert tells us how to make a vision board that actually works

Manifestation is nothing new, but it’s been making the rounds on TikTok within recent weeks as users have racked up billions of views by sharing their manifestation tips and successes.

Alongside the new spike in manifestation comes the resurgence of vision boards. Manifestation is a spiritual practice where participants use their energy and thoughts to “attract” anything they want. Vision boards act as a physical representation of those wants and needs.

Anisa Benitez is a wellness advocate with almost 50,000 followers on TikTok. She says she’s personally benefitted from creating a vision board — and encourages others to do the same.

“Visualization is one of many tools to actually manifest your dreams into reality,” Benitez told In The Know. “Creating a vision board really just helps solidify in the form of matter.”

Whether you use a poster board, a scrapbook or even Pinterest, putting your goals and dreams into some kind of physical form can be more impactful than just saying them out loud.

Before buckling down, Benitez advised that you understand the intentions behind why you’re manifesting something. For example: Are your manifestations coming from a place of greed or envy?

“Those manifestations might be a little bit more difficult to follow through on versus manifesting because you want to support somebody in your life or you want to be in a position where you are able to be more generous,” she said.

Luckily for us beginners, Benitez has three easy steps to creating a vision board.

1. Be honest with yourself.

Even though you might be the only person looking at your vision board, there’s still a chance you muffle your actual desires.

“Rather than playing it down, really go after what you truly want,” Benitez explained.

2. Make something that you’re proud of.

“[Make something] you actually want to hang up so that you see it on a regular basis,” she said. “Spend time with it.”

3. Make time to update it as time goes on.

Your goals are not going to be stagnant forever.

“Continue to align closer to what you see your ideal vision of your life,” Benitez said. “

Remember, it’s not about how perfect the vision board actually looks.

“It’s about your ability to maintain that level of imagination and believe it to be a reality that could exist for yourself,” Benitez concluded.
