The Brat Pack was a fearless group of successful young actors who defined 80s Hollywood and often appeared together in the same movies.

Among these bright young things were the likes of Rob Lowe, Molly Ringwald, and Emilio Estevez, with films such as The Breakfast Club and St. Elmo's Fire helping to propel the rising stars into the big league.

But four decades later, has it been champagne and roses for all of them? Read on to find out how the Brat Pack navigated Hollywood's ups and downs and discover who's the richest today. All dollar amounts are in US dollars.

Former child star Anthony Michael Hall started acting in TV commercials at the tender age of seven.

His early screen credits include the TV movie Rascals and Robbers: The Secret Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn and the comedy flick Six Pack (both 1982). However, his big break came when he scored a role in the 1983 comedy movie National Lampoon’s Vacation.

The teenager's scene-stealing performance as Rusty caught the attention of writer and director John Hughes, who went on to cast Hall in the classic Brat Pack movies Sixteen Candles (1984) and The Breakfast Club (1985).

Hall joined the cast of Saturday Night Live in the 1980s at the age of 17, making him the show's youngest-ever cast member.

While the 80s was undeniably a golden era for Hall, he's continued to enjoy more success over the decades, landing roles in everything from gothic fantasy Edward Scissorhands (1990) to superhero flick The Dark Knight (2008). Most recently, he appeared in the 2024 action thriller Air Force One Down. Meanwhile, recent TV credits include shows such as Riverdale, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and The Blacklist.

Ally Sheedy started acting in local stage plays while she was a teen living in New York.

She appeared in a number of popular 80s TV shows, including Hill Street Blues and Chicago Story, before making her silver screen debut in Bad Boys alongside Sean Penn in 1983.

Sheedy further boosted her career with appearances in the Brat Pack classics Oxford BluesThe Breakfast ClubSt. Elmo’s Fire, and Blue City, which were all filmed between 1984 and 1986.

Sheedy's star power began to fade in the 1990s and, unable to secure leading roles in silver-screen projects, she appeared in a string of independent films and made-for-TV movies instead. However, her career received a boost following her critically acclaimed performance in the 1998 indie flick High Art.

She went on to appear in popular TV shows such as The Dead Zone and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, and even scored a small role in the 2016 superhero blockbuster X-Men: Apocalypse. Sheedy most recently appeared in the comedy series Single Drunk Female. The show's second season premiered in 2023.

Judd Nelson made his acting debut in the 1983 movie Rock 'n' Roll Hotel, with other early gigs including Making the Grade (1984) and Fandango (1985).

Though he played a teen, Nelson was actually 26 when he scored his breakthrough role in The Breakfast Club. Alongside a number of his other Brat Pack peers, he also starred in the flicks St. Elmo’s Fire and Blue City during the 1980s.

Nelson enjoyed a lucrative acting career throughout the 1990s, with roles in movies like the action-packed Conflict of Interest (1993) and the comedy Airheads (1994). During this decade, he also scored a lead part in the sitcom Suddenly Susan.

While his career has slowed down in recent years, Nelson has still made appearances in TV shows like Two and a Half Men and Empire, as well as lending his voice to children's TV shows such as Ben 10: Omniverse and Phineas and Ferb. Most recently, Nelson starred in the 2024 sci-fi flick South of Hope Street.

Former child star Molly Ringwald started her career back in 1979 when she landed parts in the sitcoms Diff'rent Strokes and The Facts of Life.

She was then nominated for a Golden Globe at the age of 14 for her performance in the 1982 drama Tempest.

Ringwald shot to stardom thanks to the coming-of-age comedy Sixteen Candles in 1984, with her roles in movies such as The Breakfast Club and Pretty in Pink (1986) cementing her membership of the Brat Pack.

Ringwald has enjoyed a long acting career, with roles in everything from The Kissing Booth rom-com franchise to Netflix's 2022 true crime series Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.

Ringwald also held a recurring role in the popular teen drama series Riverdale between 2017 and 2023. Her most recent project was the 2024 FX drama series Feud: Bette and Joan.

The 80s starlet's long and lucrative career has amassed her an estimated total fortune of $11 million (£8.6m).

Andrew McCarthy: $12 million (£9.4m)

Andrew McCarthy made his screen debut in the 1983 comedy Class, in which he starred alongside fellow Brat Pack member Rob Lowe.

McCarthy's other early movie roles included drama The Beniker Gang (1984) and comedy flick Heaven Help Us (1985).

However, it was McCarthy's roles in St. Elmo's Fire (1985) and Pretty in Pink that truly propelled him to Hollywood stardom.

Showbiz runs in Emilio Estevez's blood: after all, he's the son of Hollywood veteran Martin Sheen, while his younger brother is infamous actor Charlie Sheen.

Estevez got his start on 80s TV shows such as Insight and Making the Grade before making his official silver screen debut in the 1982 drama movie Tex. The teenager's appearances in Brat Pack flicks such as The Breakfast Club and St. Elmo's Fire helped catapult him to the top of the business.

Estevez's on-screen success continued throughout the 1990s, with leading roles in popular movies such as The Mighty Ducks (1992), Young Guns (1990), and Loaded Weapon 1 (1993).

By the 2000s, he'd shifted his focus to writing and directing, and he's since helmed movies such as Rated X (2000) and The Public (2018), as well as episodes of TV shows including CSI: NY and Numb3rs. Estevez is next set to direct and star in a third Young Guns instalment, titled Guns 3: Alias Billy the Kid. The highly anticipated project is currently in pre-production.

Rob Lowe made his small-screen debut at the age of 15 when he starred in the 1979 sitcom A New Kind of Family.

He scored his first silver-screen role in The Outsiders (1983) alongside fellow Brat Pack member Emilio Estevez.

His stellar performances in Brat Pack flicks such as Oxford Blues (1984), St. Elmo's Fire, and About Last Night (1986) helped to cement his status as a Hollywood star.

Lowe's star power has stood the test of time, and his résumé includes everything from the wacky comedy flick Wayne's World (1992) to NBC's political-drama series The West Wing.

Her other early credits included 80s TV shows General Hospital and The Master, although it was her role in the coming-of-age Brat Pack movie St. Elmo's Fire that signalled her big break.

Today, Moore is a bona fide Hollywood superstar. Her impressive filmography includes everything from the tear-jerking romance movie Ghost (1990) to the action-packed G.I. Jane (1997), and even a vocal part in the Disney classic The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996).

Demi has further boosted her fortune by producing a number of Hollywood hits, such as the Austin Powers comedy franchise and the podcast series Dirty Diana. Her most recent silver screen appearance was a cameo role in the 2022 comedy flick The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.
