Chevrolet has a reputation for building reliable, American-made vehicles, with trucks being the true specialty that has given them an enduring legacy. Well, that historic run might be topped with a 2024 Chevy Silverado that costs almost $100K.

The Instagram account Pushing Pistons created a video that documents how the 2024 Chevy Silverado HD ZR2 Bison costs about $91,000, making it the most expensive Silverado available for purchase on the market. That is certainly not chump change — so what exactly do you get, if you are purchasing this truck? Turns out, quite a bit.

Off-Road Capabilities

The Silverado HD ZR2 Bison is a unique heavy-duty truck that redefines off-road capabilities at an unparalleled level, according to Joyce Gutierrez, an automotive expert for 4WheelOnline.

Gutierrez highlighted that the “revolutionary ZR2 suspension system, featuring Multimatic DSSV dampers, is a game-changer. These cutting-edge dampers provide unmatched control and comfort, enabling the truck to conquer rugged terrains easily.”

Working in tandem with the off-roading tires that provide more traction and grip, the ZR2 suspension delivers a smooth and fun driving experience, no matter what the road has in store.

Advanced Safety Features

Power isn’t the only thing the ZR2 Bison is packing, but lots of unique safety features that drivers might not recognize at first.

“Equipped with front and rear locking differentials, it ensures optimal traction in all conditions, from muddy trails to rocky inclines,” Gutierrez said, noting that the undercarriage has additional protection via robust skid plates for an added layer of safety, especially when on rugged terrain.

On top of that, there are plenty of driver assistance features that enhance security and convenience, ranging from adaptive cruise control, lane departure warnings and automatic emergency braking.

“Combining these premium amenities ensures the Silverado HD ZR2 Bison offers a first-class experience, whether tackling tough terrain or cruising down the highway,” added Gutierrez.

Engine and Transmission Power

“Thanks to its Duramax diesel engine, the Silverado HD ZR2 Bison is a wheel powerhouse,” Gutierrez explained, pointing out how the truck’s 6.6-liter V8 engine can push an eye-popping 470 horsepower with 975 pound-feet of torque. That’s power you feel in the driver’s seat without losing any comfort in the process.

“Paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, it delivers optimal power across all driving conditions,” Gutierrez offered.

“Features like a high-pressure common-rail fuel system and a variable-geometry turbocharger improve fuel economy without compromising performance,” said Gutierrez, who stated that this alone makes the Silverado HD ZR2 Bison “an ideal choice for those who require a vehicle that can handle heavy-duty tasks while maintaining reasonable fuel consumption.”

Hauling Capacity

Gutierrez noted this Chevy’s exceptional towing and payload capacities, “making the Silverado HD ZR2 Bison a true workhorse.”

“It can tow up to 18,500 pounds when properly equipped, ready to tackle even the most demanding hauling tasks,” Gutierrez continued, saying that the vehicle’s “payload capacity is equally impressive, allowing up to 7,442 pounds of cargo in the bed.”

In the Pushing Piston’s video, the host shows off that the back of the Bison folds down, then flips up with the Multi Pro tailgate. This feature provides a step up into the bed and allows for more hauling space so you can add more items — from luggage to furniture to equipment — into the truck.

Onboard Features

Premium might not be a strong enough way to describe Silverado HD ZR2 Bison’s amenities, which take the driving experience to the next level of classy.

“Luxurious leather upholstery adorns the cabin, providing both comfort and sophistication,” said Gutierrez. “The advanced infotainment system keeps drivers connected and entertained, featuring a large touchscreen display with intuitive controls and smartphone integration.”

Pushing Pistons showed off the extra storage in the glove box, an Apple touch screen that connects directly to Google and the large center screen to give you all the info you need while on the road.

“Audio enthusiasts will appreciate the premium sound system, delivering crystal-clear audio throughout the vehicle,” Gutierrez remarked. “The Bison has climate-controlled seats for ultimate comfort in any weather, allowing occupants to stay cool in summer and warm in winter.”

Plus, there’s a sunroof for soaking up all the great sunshine on long road trips.

“State-of-the-art [tailored] technology is at the forefront of its technological offerings, simplifying the towing process and improving safety,” said Gutierrez, making note of the Bison’s 360-degree camera system.

“The Silverado HD ZR2 Bison features wireless charging capabilities for added convenience, eliminating the need for cumbersome cables,” Gutierrez went on to explain. “The truck’s advanced connectivity features ensure that occupants stay connected on the go, with seamless integration of smartphones and other devices.”

One of a Kind Design Features

The Silverado HD ZR2 Bison is a true collaborative work from Chevrolet and American Expedition Vehicles (AEV), meaning that it comes with luxurious design features that put it in a class all unto itself.

“Its unique grille design is at the forefront, enhancing the truck’s aggressive appearance and improving airflow for optimal engine cooling,” said Gutierrez, echoing Pushing Pistons, who noted the size of the grille would be akin to that of a large barbeque.

The rugged aesthetic of the Bison is “further accentuated by robust steel bumpers engineered to withstand the rigors of off-road adventures while providing superior protection,” in Gutierrez’s professional opinion.

“High-clearance fender flares are another standout feature,” Gutierrez said, describing how “these flares serve a functional purpose and contribute to the Bison’s commanding presence on and off the road.”

Exclusive badging decorates several parts of this Silverado — from the grille to the fender and all the way to the tailgate — officially marking this truck as a “special edition” from Chevy.

“These subtle yet distinctive touches testify to the truck’s unique identity and collaborative heritage with AEV,” Gutierrez commented. “Each Silverado HD ZR2 Bison design element has been carefully considered to blend form and function, resulting in a vehicle that is as capable as it is visually striking.”

All of this, combined with the outstanding reputation of Chevy, make the Silverado HD ZR2 Bison worth every penny — all 10,000,000 of them.
