YouTuber thoroughly polishes iPhone and it’s so satisfying to watch

“Mirror finishing” is the process of turning a metal surface into a reflective one. A YouTube channel in Japan, named hakaihan, has become a viral sensation for its videos featuring the technique. Coins, locks, keychains and other metal goods are showcased on hakaihan but its thorough iPhone transformation is the real stunner.

To turn the back of an iPhone into a mirror, hakaihan used several Japanese polishing compounds and various sanding tools. First, hakaihan masked the screen to prevent damage with green tape. Waterproof sandpapers with grits of 120, 240, 400, 800, 1500 and 3000 were used to smooth the surface. Next, eight different metal polishing compounds were added by rubbing them into the metal.

Finally, the iPhone mirror is complete. To demonstrate the efficacy of the transformation, hakaihan enlisted the help of a Woody action figure from “Toy Story.” Woody’s reflection is crystal clear in the phone mirror — success.
