FAA investigates Boeing over 787 Dreamliner inspections
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has opened a new investigation into Boeing's (BA) inspections of its 787 Dreamliner jets. The company alerted the FAA in April that it may have not completed the safety inspections required of its 787 Dreamliners. The FAA said it is investigating whether Boeing completed the inspections and whether company employees may have falsified aircraft records. The FAA also told Boeing it must create a plan to address the 787 Dreamliner planes that are already in service. UPDATE 1-First crewed test flight of Boeing Starliner capsule targeted for May 17
The target date for the next attempt to launch Boeing Co's Starliner space capsule on its first crewed test flight has been pushed back to no earlier than May 17, to replace a pressure valve on its booster rocket, NASA said on Tuesday. The CST-100 Starliner's debut voyage carrying astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS) has been highly anticipated and much-delayed as Boeing scrambles to compete with Elon Musk's SpaceX for a greater share of lucrative NASA business.
