    Electrolux Q1 loss nearly triples on weak demand but beats expectations

    Electrolux's operating loss nearly tripled in the first quarter on weak demand and poor performance in North America, but the loss was smaller than expected as raw material costs eased, sending shares up 6%. Electrolux, which prices its products in many regions at the premium end of the market, has seen consumers opt for cheaper alternatives, but said on Friday that is saw consumer confidence indicators to be bottoming out. "The price pressure in North America and high promotional activity in other markets characterizing the latter part of 2023 continued in the first quarter."

    UPDATE 2-Long-time Electrolux CEO Jonas Samuelson to step down next year

    Sweden's Electrolux , the world's second-biggest appliances maker, said on Thursday its CEO of eight years Jonas Samuelson will step down on Jan. 1, 2025. Electrolux said in a statement Samuelson had informed the company of his decision to also leave the board, which will now launch a search for a successor. "I currently have no plan to take on any other operational role after leaving the group and will be available to support the company and my successor also after Jan. 1, 2025," Samuelson said in the statement, without providing any details.
