Average regular gasoline prices fall to $3.47 per gallon

The price of gas in the U.S. is now cheaper than before Russia invaded Ukraine, which sent oil prices sky high.

Video transcript

DAVE BRIGGS: Gas prices continuing to tumble. The national average for a gallon of regular gasoline is $3.47, down $0.02 from yesterday, though still higher than a year ago. This means, though, prices are now lower than they were on February 24. Why does that matter? That's when Russia invaded Ukraine, causing oil prices to spike.

A rather remarkable achievement, really, when you think about that war showing no signs of ending any time soon. Meanwhile, we're starting to see diesel prices fall. A gallon of diesel costs 5.15, down about $0.16 from a month ago, but still well above the 3.64 it was one year ago.
