Demonstration Held in Argentina to Protest Violence Against Women After Rape, Murder

A number of demonstrations were held in locations in Argentina, and reportedly at least one in Madrid, Spain, on October 19, to protest over violence against women.

The latest demonstrations were reportedly sparked by the rape and murder of a 16-year-old girl, Lucia Perez, earlier this month.

Activists called for women to go on strike for a hour and wear black on what was dubbed “Miércoles Negro” or “Black Wednesday.” The hashtags #MiércolesNegro and #NiUnaMenos were used – the latter, meaning “not one woman less,” was used in previous demonstrations over violence against women.
