Demonstrators March on Downing Street in Response to Nigeria Protests

Demonstrators in London gathered on Wednesday afternoon, October 21, following reports that police were firing live ammunition during anti-police brutality protests in Lagos, Nigeria.

According to reports, protesters marched from the Nigerian High Commission in central London to Downing Street. This footage shows demonstrators in Parliament Square on Wednesday afternoon observing a moment of silence before chanting, “No more, end SARS,” calling out Nigeria’s notorious police unit, the Special Anti-Robbery Squad.

Nigerian State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced a 4 pm curfew on Tuesday, October 20, yet protests continued after witnesses reported that police had fired into a group of protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate. Credit: @AbisolaAnike_ via Storyful
