'Drifting' Vehicle Nearly Hits Tow Truck Operator on Anchorage Highway

A tow truck driver in Anchorage, Alaska, experienced a close call on Christmas day, December 25, when a swerving vehicle passed dangerously close to him as he inspected a disabled car on snowy Seward Highway.

This dashcam footage from the vehicle of an officer who was assisting the tow truck driver, posted on the Anchorage Police Department Facebook page, shows the incident.

Some of the commentators to the post mentioned that the passing vehicle looked as if it were intentionally “drifting” – referring to a driving technique where a driver purposefully oversteers on a turn, still maintaining control over their vehicle.

“Had any tiny variable been slightly different in these 3 seconds, this could have been an incredibly tragic day,” the accompanying post reads. “We’re grateful that nobody was hurt.” Credit: Anchorage Police Department via Storyful
