Flooding Forces Southeast Queensland Town to Evacuate

The town of Inglewood in Queensland was left flooded on the morning of December 1 following heavy rainfall.

Queensland’s state emergency services received more than 400 requests for help in 24 hours as severe flooding gripped towns in the state’s southeast.

Rainfall totals of up to 70mm were recorded in the Border Rivers area catchment since 9 am Tuesday, after significant rainfall over the last week, the Bureau of Meteorology said.

Residents were asked to evacuate the town of Inglewood on Tuesday night as major flooding hit the Macintyre Brook catchment area. The weather bureau expected more flooding, with the Macintyre River at Goondiwindi expected to peak near 10.70 meters on Friday.
