The City of Paris awarded the Grand Vermeil medal to Mamoudou Gassama on June 4, in recognition of his rescuing a small boy who was dangling from a balcony.
Gassama was dubbed the “Spider-Man of Paris” after video of his heroics circulated online from May 26.
