Officials Discourage Travel as Blizzard Hits Des Moines

Snow fell over in Iowa overnight Thursday, January 14, with accumulations of more than seven inches in some parts of the state by the Friday morning, the National Weather Service (NWS) reported.

Snow began falling late Thursday, which, carried by gusty winds, created dangerous blizzard conditions and complicated travel around Des Moines.

Twitter user @BTravs shared this footage from Des Moines, which he said was taken around 11:30 pm on Thursday night.
