New South Wales Storms Bring Hailstones to Hyams Beach

The white sands of Hyams Beach on the New South Wales South Coast were hit by a hail storm on January 20, on a day when severe storms hit many parts of the state.

Residents of New South Wales were urged to move their cars under cover and away from any trees and power lines as storms were forecast to affect southern parts of the state on January 20.

Severe storms were also forecast for the Sydney region, with residents warned of damaging winds, giant hailstones and heavy rainfall.

Hailstorms also hit Canberra, prompting over 1,000 calls to be made to the Australian Capital Territory’s Emergency Services Agency. Credit: Paula Orbea via Storyful
