Thousands March in Minsk to Demand Lukashenko Resignation as Opposition Threaten National Strike

Protesters marched in Minsk, Belarus, on October 25 to demand the resignation of President Alexander Lukashenko.

Opposition politician Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya had given Lukashenko two weeks to resign from his post, threatening mass strikes if he failed to comply.

“On October 25 Belarusians will take to the streets demanding to stop the violence, release political prisoners and hold new elections. And this is impossible without Lukashenko’s departure,” Tsikhanouskaya said in a statement on Telegram. “If the demands are not met, the Belarusians will go on a nationwide strike on October 26.”
