Trump organization under criminal investigation, Las Vegas to remove covid restrictions June 1, President Biden test drives new Ford truck

Julie Hyman discusses some of Wednesday’s business headlines, including: New York’s AG investigating Trump Organization in criminal capacity, Las Vegas Strip reopening June 1, and Ford unveiling EV F-150 for President Biden’s visit.

Video transcript

JULIE HYMAN: Some other business headlines we are watching at this hour-- the legal probe into the Trump organization is widening. The New York Attorney General's investigation is now criminal as well as civil. That joins the Manhattan criminal fraud inquiry. NY AG Letitia James's office has been looking into the potential inflation of Donald Trump's assets and financial filings. Manhattan DA Cyrus Vance is looking into potential bank fraud and other crimes.

Las Vegas joins the growing list of tourist attractions in areas pushing towards full reopening. County lawmakers approved a plan to return to pre-pandemic guidelines as of June 1, including lifting restrictions on large gatherings. Masks and social distancing will not be required for fully vaccinated people in most situations. Many Vegas casinos are already operating at around 100%.

Self-proclaimed car guy President Joe Biden, he took a spin behind the wheel of Ford's new F-150 electric truck in Michigan yesterday. The automaker formally introduced that vehicle tomorrow. And our own Brian Sozzi is going to be talking with CEO Jim Farley about it. Now the president, Myles, when he was driving it, apparently, let slip that it goes from 0 to 60 in, what, 4.4 seconds, which, I guess, wasn't something he was supposed to let on quite yet, but the Ford folks said it's OK. We'll then talk more about it tomorrow.

MYLES UDLAND: All right, so, Sozzi, I guess that's the bar. You can get guidance if you're the president, but you probing Jim Farley for sales trends, I'm assuming he's going to ice you in that conversation, as much as you will try, as you do, with every CEO.
