Universal Studios' Beijing resort has opened its doors

after a two-decade wait

The park is the largest Universal resort in the world

(SOUNDBITE) (Mandarin) 42-YEAR-OLD BEIJING RESIDENT AND DESIGNER, LI HONG, SAYING:

"I've been to many other international theme parks, for example, Hong Kong Disneyland, theme parks in Japan and others, including Shanghai's Disneyland. I feel that the whole environment here at Beijing's Universal Studios, including transport links and other services, has been really well done. I am just really looking forward to being able to go into the park to see the whole situation."

It has a section dedicated to the movie 'Kung Fu Panda'

and includes an area based on the Harry Potter franchise

(SOUNDBITE) (Mandarin) 27-YEAR-OLD BEIJING RESIDENT AND TICKET HOLDER, PI TIANTIAN, EXPLAINING WHY SHE IS LOOKING FORWARD TO GOING TO THE RESORT, SAYING:

“When it comes to Universal Studios, we're all big fans of the Marvel movies. We really want to experience this resort. He also really likes the Harry Potter series."

The park is estimated to earn more than $1.6 billion a year in revenue

with up to 12 million visits, according to state-run Beijing Daily
